1
What exactly does Battery CallOut do?

Battery CallOut is a mobile car battery replacement service based in Melbourne, Australia. Instead of you having to get your car to a garage or shop, we come directly to wherever you are — your home, workplace, car park, roadside, anywhere in Melbourne — and replace your battery on the spot.

We also provide jump start services, battery health checks, alternator testing, and can supply batteries for cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, RVs, and more. Think of us as a battery workshop that drives to you.

2
How fast can you get to me?

Our average response time across Melbourne is under 60 minutes. We have multiple mobile vans strategically located across Melbourne metro, so we can reach most suburbs quickly.

In some high-demand areas or at very busy times it may be 60–85 minutes, but we'll give you an accurate ETA when you call. We'll never keep you guessing.

Average: Under 1hr

Do I need to bring my car anywhere? Can I stay where I am?

You stay exactly where you are. That's the whole point of our service. Whether you're in a supermarket car park, your driveway, at the office, or stuck on the side of the road — we come to you. You do not need to tow your car or arrange a lift to a shop.

Just make sure you (or someone) can be with the vehicle when our technician arrives so they can complete the job safely.

5
How long does a battery replacement take once you arrive?

For most standard passenger vehicles, a complete battery replacement takes 20 to 60 minutes once our technician arrives. This includes removing the old battery, fitting the new one, testing the electrical system, and confirming everything is working correctly.

Some vehicles with complex battery systems (like European luxury cars or certain hybrid vehicles) can take a little longer — up to 45 minutes. Our technician will let you know upfront if your car falls into that category.

6
What brands of batteries do you use?

We only supply premium, well-known battery brands that are tested and certified for Australian conditions. We stock a range of brands to match your vehicle's exact requirements and your budget.

We do not supply cheap, unbranded, or grey-market batteries. Every battery we fit is a quality product that we're confident enough to back with a 2-year warranty.

7
How do I know if I need a new battery or just a jump start?

We test it for free when we arrive — so you don't need to guess. Our technician will run a full battery health check and alternator test before recommending anything.

As a general guide: if your battery is flat but relatively new (under 3 years), a jump start might be all you need. If it's older, failing frequently, or showing low voltage, replacement is likely the better option. We'll give you an honest recommendation either way — even if it means you don't spend money with us.

8
What are the signs that my car battery is dying?

Common warning signs include:

  • Engine turns over slowly or struggles to start
  • Dashboard battery warning light is on
  • Dim headlights or interior lights
  • Electrical accessories acting up (windows slow, radio cutting out)
  • Battery is more than 3–5 years old
  • Frequent need for jump starts
  • Clicking sound when you turn the key but the engine doesn't start

If you're noticing any of these, it's a good idea to get your battery tested before it leaves you completely stranded.

9
How long does a car battery typically last in Melbourne?

In Australian conditions, most car batteries last 3 to 5 years. Melbourne's variable climate — hot summers and cold winters — can affect battery lifespan. Heat, in particular, accelerates battery degradation.

If your battery is approaching or past the 4-year mark, it's worth getting it tested even if it seems fine — batteries can fail suddenly without obvious warning signs.

Average lifespan: 3–5 years
10
Do you dispose of the old battery for me?

Yes, absolutely. Our technician will take your old battery away and dispose of it through an approved battery recycling program. Car batteries contain lead and acid which are harmful to the environment, so proper disposal is important — and we handle it for you at no extra cost.

11
Can extreme heat or cold damage a car battery?

Yes. Heat is actually the biggest enemy of car batteries. Hot weather accelerates the chemical reactions inside the battery, which degrades it faster. A battery that barely survived a Melbourne summer may fail when you try to start the car on a cold winter morning — because cold reduces battery output.

This is why it's common for batteries to fail in winter even though the summer was the real cause. If your battery struggled through a hot summer, don't wait — get it tested.

12
Will replacing my battery reset my car's computer or lose my radio settings?

On some modern vehicles, disconnecting the battery can reset certain settings such as radio presets, power window positions, or trip computer data. However, it will not affect your car's engine ECU data, safety systems, or any critical programming in a harmful way.

Our technicians are experienced with this and take precautions where possible. If your specific vehicle has known sensitivity around this, we'll discuss it with you before starting the job.

16
Is there a charge if I call you out and I don't actually need a new battery?

If our technician arrives, does the free health check, and determines that you only need a jump start (not a full replacement), you'll be charged the jump start service fee only — not the full battery replacement price.

We've had many cases where an honest diagnosis saved the customer $100+. That's just how we do business.

17
Do you offer any discounts for repeat customers or multiple vehicles?

Yes — we regularly run promotions and offer deals for repeat customers, referrals, and fleet or multi-vehicle bookings. Ask about our current offers when you call, or check our Offers page.

18
How do I book a battery replacement?

The quickest way is to call us on +61 490 684 940. We'll confirm your location, vehicle details, and give you an instant quote — then dispatch the nearest technician immediately. The whole process takes about 2 minutes.

You can also book online using our appointment form. Online booking is ideal if you want to pre-schedule a battery check or non-emergency replacement rather than same-day emergency service.

19
Can I book in advance for a time that suits me?

Yes absolutely. While a lot of our calls are emergency same-day callouts, we're also very happy to schedule a pre-booked appointment for a time that works for you. Many customers prefer to book a morning or afternoon slot on a day that's convenient — particularly for a battery check or planned replacement.

Just let us know when you call or fill in the appointment form with your preferred date and time.

20
What information do I need to have ready when I call?

To get you a quick, accurate quote and dispatch the right technician with the right battery, it helps to have:

  • Your vehicle make, model, and year (e.g. Toyota Camry 2018)
  • Your exact location or address
  • What's happening — e.g. "car won't start", "battery warning light on"

If you're not sure of all details, don't worry — just call and we'll work it out together.

21
Can I cancel or reschedule my booking?

Yes, no problem. If you need to cancel or reschedule a pre-booked appointment, just give us a call as soon as possible and we'll sort it out. For emergency same-day callouts, if our technician is already on the way, please call immediately so we can reassign them.

There is no cancellation fee for reasonable cancellations with adequate notice.

Warranty & Guarantee
3 Questions
22
What warranty do I get on my new battery?

Every battery we supply and install comes with a 2-year replacement warranty. If your battery fails within the warranty period due to a manufacturing defect or normal use, we will replace it — no questions asked.

You'll receive warranty paperwork at the time of service. Keep it in your glovebox so you have it handy if needed.

2-Year Replacement Warranty
23
What is NOT covered by the warranty?

The warranty covers manufacturing defects and premature battery failure under normal use. It does not cover:

  • Physical damage (cracks, dents, external damage)
  • Battery failure caused by a faulty alternator (we test this on arrival)
  • Batteries that have been left fully discharged for extended periods
  • Modification or tampering with the battery

If you're ever unsure whether an issue is covered, just call us — we'll help you out.

24
How do I make a warranty claim?

Simply call us on +61 490 684 940 and let us know you have a warranty issue. Have your warranty paperwork handy (we give it to you at the time of service). We'll arrange a convenient time to come to you, assess the battery, and replace it at no charge if it's covered under warranty.

Vehicle Types
3 Questions
25
Do you service motorcycles, boats, and trucks?

Yes — we carry batteries for a wide range of vehicles, not just cars. This includes:

  • Motorcycles & scooters
  • Trucks & commercial vehicles
  • Boats & jet skis (marine batteries)
  • Caravans & RVs (deep cycle batteries)
  • Golf carts
  • Solar power storage systems

When you call, just tell us your vehicle type and we'll confirm we have the right battery for you.

26
Can you replace batteries in European or luxury cars?

Yes. We have experience with European vehicles including BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, and others. Many European cars require battery registration (also called coding or programming) after a replacement — where the car's computer needs to be told a new battery has been installed. Our technicians are equipped and trained to handle this process.

Just let us know the make and model when you call so we can confirm the right battery and process for your vehicle.

27
Do you service hybrid or electric vehicles?

For hybrid vehicles (like Toyota Prius, Camry Hybrid etc.), we can replace the 12V auxiliary battery — which is a standard battery separate from the hybrid drive battery. Most hybrids still have a regular 12V battery that powers the accessories and starting system, and we can replace that on the spot.

For fully electric vehicles (like Tesla, Nissan Leaf), the 12V auxiliary battery replacement is also something we can assist with. We do not, however, service high-voltage drive battery systems in EVs or hybrids — that requires specialist EV facilities.
